slamjam-milano-2Milan may be well reputed for its high fashion scene, but the city also has an ambition when it comes to streetwear and sneakers. A spot where fashion, streetwear and sneaker influences merge is in Brera’s Via Lanza. Slam Jam just moved to this upscale, very fashionable neighborhood some weeks ago, concluding a quite successful chapter at their old location in Navigli. Their HQ remains in Ferrara.

slamjam-milano-9 slamjam-milano-17The new Milan store located in the former NikeLab space borrows influences from traditional Italian (Romanic) architecture and mixes them with modern, clean aesthetics. Metal shelves, lots of glass and very clear lines contribute to the store’s ”less is more“ approach which definitively lives up to Slam Jam’s excellent reputation in- and outside Italy. Divided into two floors with a well-assorted sneaker wall, apparel, shoes and accessories share the rack space in this elegant, sophisticated setting. You can even pick up some older releases that are already sold out online

slamjam-milano-13slamjam-milano-10During our visit an extra room was dedicated to the new fall/winter collection from OAMC, addressing some of the brand’s most exclusive pieces. It’s another proof of Slam Jam’s ambition for mixing fashion and streetwear influences under one roof. The sneaker industry is heading in the same direction as the fashion influences are growing stronger every season. We won’t discuss the multiple reasons for that at this point. Slam Jam Milano is stocking the latest Quickstrikes, Tier Zeros and adidas Consortium releases as well as limited drops from brands like Asics, Diadora, New Balance and Reebok. To cut a long story short: Slam Jam is Italy’s first and most popular source among sneaker heads.

slamjam-milano-26Japan is another big player in the global fashion scene with high-quality labels like Visvim, Neighborhood, Undercover and Sophnet (just to name a few) appealing to a growing niche within the streetwear community. As a consequence it’s not a surprise to see many Japanese brands on display here in Milano. Home accessories from retaw Tokyo also match Slam Jam’s apparent desire for beautiful things – and we can’t deny our retaw addiction. Unfortunately our pics don’t convey how good the store smells.

slamjam-milano-16To sum things up, the new Slam Jam Milano location lives up to its promise delivering a high end, exclusive shopping experience in a stylish, yet unique setting. With its store at Via Lanza 1 Slam Jam manages to raise the bar in retail once again. Even dedicated online shoppers like us have to admit this simple truth. A trip to Milano without checking out Slam Jam’s temple of streetwear would feel incomplete.
