Time flies! Nearly two years ago Ronnie Fieg announced his plans for a big “East Coast Project“ as tribute to his two hometowns NYC and Miami. Composed of the two immediately sold out Gel-Lyte IIIs in a Knicks and Dolphins color scheme the pack clearly was a success. Now Ronnie and his Kith crew direct their attention to the West Coast with the corresponding „West Coast Project“ (WCP) and a stylish pop-up store in sunny Venice. This time the just recently retroed unjustly forgotten Asics Gel Sight is his weapon of choice.

Ronnie’s preference for blue sneaker designs is well known. It’s a safe and always great looking option as his latest creations again demonstrate. The „Atlantic“, which is featured in this blogpost, is inspired by New York’s cold winters (just look at the current weather conditions on the East Coast). It uses different shades of blue on a premium suede upper with a perforated toebox and matching blue speckles on the midsole. Of course Kith’s tagline „just us“ also features on this shoe and it’s only one of many nice details. Another one can be found if you take a look at the Atlantic’s „inner values“, where the insoles bear the name of Kith’s founder in white cursive letters. Three different lace options (dark & light blue and white) complete the setup of this nicely done collab. As you can see we especially like the contrast with the light blue laces. So they were our first choice.

The whole concept with its NYC references (we are feverishly looking forward to our next trip in March) and the premium materials make this Asics an instant cop – again. Judging from the pictures in Kith’s lookbook (which can be found here) the corresponding „Pacific“ Gel Sight with its beige suede upper makes an equally hot appearance. Its bright earthy parts reflect California’s world famous sandy beaches. Without doubt: We can’t wait to get our hands on a pair. In the meantime our shots of the „Atlantic“ hopefully show that Ronnie’s concept not only works beautifully in NYC but also in front of Cologne’s skyline.

If you are in California right now, make sure to pay a visit to Kith’s pop-up store in Venice Beach (1638 Abbot Kinney). An online release will follow at a later date. Just follow our Facebook & Twitter pages for any updates on this collab.
